Do you know that cervical cancer is the 6th most common cancer among women in Singapore. About 200 new cases are diagnosed each year.
Key points of cervical cancer:
◦It is highly preventable
◦A Pap smear is an easy test to prevent cervical cancer
◦Early detection saves womb and life
◦HPV vaccination, a new tool to prevent cervical cancer, does not substitute for cervical cancer screening. It is recommended that women should still go for regular Pap smears.
From 1 to 31 May 2009, FREE Pap smear will be offered to all female Singaporeans and Permanent Residents aged 25 – 69 years at participating clinics island-wide. For further enquiries, please call 6396 6241 / 6221 9578 or email cancerscreening@singaporecancersociety.org.sg.
