As a mom of two young kids, I'm constantly looking for ideas to keep them occupied and happy, without burning a hole in my pocket. Through this blog, I hope that I could 'debunk the myth' that Singapore is only about Orchard Road. I always cringe upon hearing people who say that Singapore is boring or nothing much to do here other than going to the shopping malls. Once I said to my friend, I'm gonna be dead bored if Singapore is only about shopping malls.
There ARE much more in Singapore than just Orchard Road or shopping malls. My personal observation is, many overseas visitors cannot stand the heat and humidity in Singapore. So, the moment they step out of the hotel or house, they will look out for air-conditioned places and refuse to explore outdoor places. That's why people tend to associate Singapore with shopping malls.
I am grateful that today's shopping malls have been much more child-friendly that they used to be. Many shopping malls today have been designed with children in mind, equipped with facilities and activities for children now and then.
In 2010, Singapore has seen the opening of two Integrated Resorts (IR) - Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands. These two are a big draw for overseas visitors, but again, Singapore is much more than just these two IRs.
I know this blog should have been more exhaustive, but please bear with me as I slowly add up the list of activities and places to visit for families with kids. I am shameful to say that we have not explored Singapore as much as we would love to, but slowly we will!
